Blog 8: GPOY

Imagen
GPOY  First, I want to say that looking for the meaning of GPOY, I found that it was about posting a real image of one or an image that represents you (or an action that you like), reflected into a gif or a meme. I am going to talk about a nice moment that happened to me, some time ago. One day, when I went out to my balcony, I found that a small bird was perching on the railing, its plumage was made up of different shades ranging from yellow to green. You could see that he was tired, and a little disoriented. So, I decided to find some water to give him to drink. After having done such action the bird became less shy and can hold it in the palm of my hand. Finally, as a form of gratitude, the bird shit my hand and it was done on the fly, that's the story. It was really a nice experience; I had never touched such a small bird with my hands. In front of my balcony, there is a giant yard, in which there is a great diversity of animals, there are large trees that serve for bi...

Blog 7: Postgraduate Studies

Postgraduate Studies  Hi. I am not sure if I will finish my career before taking a postgraduate XD. But if I specialize in archaeology I would like to study a postgraduate in ancient history, either about the Roman Empire (including the Roman Republic) or about ancient Egypt, they catch my attention. Therefore, I should study in Europe or some other country. If I specialize in physic anthropology, I will do a paleoanthropology postgraduate; what it is to study human evolution through the fossil record. (Although it is difficult, since yes or yes, I will have to go to Europe). If I did a postgraduate degree I would like to study without virtuality. It is an important issue since anthropology requires specialization, especially when looking for a job.

Blog 6: Your Future Job

My Future Job    When I was a child, I wished to study paleontology, but over the years I decided to study anthropology. Now I am undecided, whether to dedicate in the future to the archeological area or to the physical anthropology area, it is a decision that I must make this second semester. But if I choose the archeological area, I would work outdoors; I would go through many places (like physical anthropology). I could interpret different cultures through diverse types of materiality that they let behind, looking for a truth that explains the context of the development of a culture and the transformations it undergoes. Regarding salary, it is not a job that is paid very well, it is a job that I would do for pleasure and vocation.    HAVE A NICE DAY!

A Meal or Food You Really Like                             My favorite meat is “calzones rotos” (fried dough with bowtie’s form), a preparation that is eaten especially in winter, but I like to eat them throughout the year. An essential characteristic of “calzones rotos” is its intense lemon flavor, in addition to having a good thickness. whenever I went to my grandmother's house, she made me “calzones rotos”. One day my grandmother was going to make me “calzones rotos” -I was anxious-, she was gathering various ingredients when suddenly she tells my mother that she forgot the recipe, that she does not remember how to make it; the thing is that in the end, she did not make them, following the day normally. The point is that a couple of years later, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I always remember ...

The Cringe I was 16 when I was in the first year of high school. I remember that I had a chemistry test -I should learn all the names of the chemical elements-, which I wrote down in the palm of my hand two or three names of chemical elements that I could not remember (I did this also because several classmates were making “torpedos” for the test). The point is that I was approximately 10 meters away from my teacher when she asked me to show her my hands, she caught me red-handed (to this day I still can't understand how she got to see the palm of my hand), a tense moment originated but thank god she only told me to erase what I had written. This gave me cringe because it was the first time that I cheated on a test (high school), see myself exposed to everyone, break with the notion of being a shy and quiet person. The funny thing is that from that day on I did not copy again in a test xd.

A Yesterday Trip My favorite trip was when I went camping for a few days in “Cajón del Maipo” with my parents and my brothers, I was 6 or 7 years old, I was born in the year 2000 to give you an idea. I have chosen this memory because I consider it symbolic, recalls a primal state of my childhood, in which I experienced an incredible peace and tranquility that contrasts with the rest of my life. I remember seeing how the insects (Gerris lacustris) moved slightly through the river water, I remember understanding the expression "más o menos", I remember seeing the stars twinkle in a huge blue cloak. A significant memory is when on the way to the river I came across an old rusty saucepan that was turned upside down, Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to flip it, when I lifted it, an animal that I could not recognize quickly came out of the darkness, the impression was so great that I ran to where my parents were. I suspect it would be a mouse or a toad.

A country you would like to visit    I would like to travel to England, an island of 55 million people. First, to be able to relate to the great diversity of cultures that speak English, and second to know its archaeological attractions, such as Hadrian's Wall, which was the northern border of the Roman Empire (128 AD), the British Museum, which has an incredible variety of archaeological objects, or Stonehenge, a 5000-year-old megalithic complex. Also, I would like to go because it is where “V for Vendetta” is set, one of my favorite films. If I had the possibility to live there, I would only do it for a few years; I would be interested in exploring and learning about its archaeological attractions. In England, it would be interesting to study Celtic culture, peoples of the Iron Age. As well as, the mummies of the bog, such as the "Lindow Man", found in the northwest of England.                       ...
